Sunnyvale seeks an experienced public-sector HR professional and an innovative, future-focused leader as its next Director of Human Resources. Located in Santa Clara County, the City of Sunnyvale is a center of technology and innovation and home to quiet family neighborhoods, a vibrant downtown, strong schools, and a diverse community.
 
As a member of the Executive Team, the Director functions as a collaborative business partner and oversees a talented team of 21 in a full-service HR Department. This accomplished professional will have well-rounded, deep, relevant HR experience and risk management expertise. The successful candidate will bring an approachable, positive presence, a record of establishing productive relationships, including those with labor groups, and experience developing a shared vision aligned with strategic organizational priorities.
 
Highly qualified candidates will have six years of Human Resources management experience, including two years of supervisory experience, along with a Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Master’s degree and public sector experience are desired.
 
Salary range is $330,891 - $397,069; placement within the range will be DOQE. Salary supplemented by a competitive benefits package. Closes: 11:59 pm on Sunday, January 4, 2026.
