Marin County (pop. 260,000) is located in the hills northwest of San Francisco. Marin’s location is ideal, less than an hour’s drive from the coastline, with access to the vineyards of Napa and Sonoma Counties and all that San Francisco offers. The Building and Safety Division, with a $5.4 million budget and 23 staff, is responsible for building plan check and inspection services for construction in unincorporated areas of the County.
 
The County seeks a forward-thinking building professional with a collaborative, team-oriented leadership style. The ideal candidate will have expert knowledge of best practices in building code application, familiarity with permitting technology, and demonstrated success in leading change.
 
Qualified candidates will bring five years of experience in building inspection and plans examination, including two in a supervisory capacity and a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Public Administration, or related field. Certification as a Building Official or registration as an Architect, Civil, or Structural Engineer in California is required.
 
The salary range goes to $185,619; salary is supplemented by a highly competitive benefits package. Closes: Sunday, December 15, 2024.
