The City of American Canyon (pop. 21,432), located 35 miles northeast of San Francisco at the southern tip of Napa Valley, is a safe and diverse community known for its expansive nature preserves, affordable living, and high-quality schools. The Public Works Department is responsible for operations and maintenance of the City’s infrastructure. Supported by 22 staff, the Utilities and Environmental Services Division is responsible for planning and overseeing the City’s water, wastewater, recycled water, and environmental services.

The City seeks an experienced industry professional with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills. The future Assistant Director will be a supportive and approachable manager and authentic relationship builder who can engage with staff and colleagues to create a positive team environment. Seven years of increasingly responsible experience in relevant public works operations, including four years of supervisory experience, and a bachelor’s degree in a related field are expected.
