Just 50 miles northeast of San Francisco, the City of Napa (pop 80,416) is renowned as the seat of California’s premier winemaking region and a culinary destination, where rolling hills, vineyards, near perfect weather, and beautiful open space provide the backdrop for a dynamic city.
The Public Works Department is supported by a team of approximately 83 staff organized across six divisions. Public Works manages a robust citywide Capital Improvement Program (CIP). The City Council has approved an initial five-year CIP work plan funded with a 25-year half-cent sales tax, that will result in approximately $8 million to the city each year, dedicated to maintenance, reconstruction, and/or rehabilitation of streets, roads, sidewalks and other capital projects.
The candidate will oversee the Engineering Division of Public Works. Strong technical expertise in Public Works infrastructure planning, design and/or construction, complemented by strong leadership and project management skills will be key to a candidate’s success. The ideal candidate will also have a track record of building and maintaining a team-oriented environment that emphasizes cooperation, collaboration and responsiveness.
The position requires at least four years of progressively responsible professional civil engineering experience, including supervisory responsibilities. A bachelor’s degree and registration as a Professional Civil Engineer in the State of California in good standing is also required.
Salary range $108,799-$131,434 supplemented by an attractive benefits package.
