Just 50 miles northeast of San Francisco, the City of Napa (pop 80,416) is renowned as the seat of California’s premier winemaking region and a culinary destination, where rolling hills, vineyards, near perfect weather, and beautiful open space provide the backdrop for a dynamic city.
The Public Works Department is supported by a team of approximately 83 staff organized across six divisions. Public Works manages a robust citywide Capital Improvement Program (CIP). The City Council has approved an initial five-year CIP work plan funded with a 25-year half-cent sales tax, that will result in approximately $8 million to the city each year, dedicated to maintenance, reconstruction, and/or rehabilitation of streets, roads, sidewalks and other capital projects.
The ideal candidate will understand the techniques of managing, scheduling and monitoring multiple engineering projects on time and within budget. He/she will also be a collaborative leader with well-rounded communication skills to work with client departments, the public/community and intra-department staff.
The position is flexibly staffed and requires at least four years of progressively responsible experience performing construction management and/or inspection, including supervisory responsibilities.
Candidates possessing a bachelor’s degree and a Professional Engineering License within the State of California may be considered for appointment as Construction Manager-Professional Engineer, with an annual salary range of $108,799-$131,434. Without a Professional Engineering License within the State of California, the annual salary range for Construction Manager is $106,646-$128,851. Salary is supplemented by an attractive benefits package.
