Offering an exceptional quality of life in the East Bay, the City of Pleasanton is home to a population of nearly 75,000. The community has long been recognized as one of Northern California’s premier communities in which to live, work and raise a family.  The new Library & Recreation Department will be supported by 52.25 FTE organized across two divisions – Library & Civic Arts and Recreation & Human Services. Pleasanton is seeking two Assistant Directors.
 
The City is seeking professionals who promote high expectations and are known for achieving results. Ideal candidates will enjoy building, unifying and leading teams and possess previous success with managing change. The individuals selected must be strong managers and mentors, outstanding communicators, and creative problem solvers. Minimal requirements include progressively responsible management experience and a Bachelor’s degree; MLIS or MPA is preferred.
 
Starting salary will be up to the control point of $144,240. Assistant Directors may earn up to $173,088 with time and demonstrated performance. Salary is supplemented by an excellent benefits package.
