Located in the San Francisco Bay, the island City of Alameda is home to a population of 75,126. Spanning 10.6 square miles, Alameda is less than a mile from Oakland and is one of only 21 municipalities in the nation designated as a Coast Guard City. Operating out of four fire stations, the city’s full-service Fire Department is supported by 95 sworn and 6 civilian personnel. The Department is organized across six divisions: Administration, Operations, Emergency Medical Services, Training, Disaster Preparedness, and Fire Prevention.
The ideal candidate will be a progressive leader in the fire service with Bay Area experience. A strong mentor and collaborative team player, he/she will be an exceptional problem solver known for encouraging and supporting innovation in the profession. Any combination equivalent to education and experience that provides the required knowledge, abilities, and skills will be considered. A minimum of five (5) years of command level experience and a Bachelor’s degree are preferred. A Master’s degree is desirable. The salary range goes up to $247,400.
