Located between San Francisco and Sonoma wine country spanning 28 square miles, the City of Novato (pop. 53,000) is the northernmost city in Marin County. The City offers a rural atmosphere with an extensive amount of open space. Novato's Public Works Department oversees the planning, construction, maintenance, and operation of all City rights-of-way, properties, and facilities. The Department has an FY24-25 operating budget of $12.7 million and is supported by 45 positions.
 
The ideal candidate will be a forward-thinking public works professional who displays a broad range of knowledge and experience in public works operations, maintenance, and capital project management. This hands-on manager will display a flexible style with the ability to lean in where needed to get the job done. Minimum qualifications include seven (7) years of experience managing various public works areas and a  Bachelor’s degree.
