Director of Utilities - City of Escondido, CA

Escondido lies 30 miles northeast of San Diego and 100 miles south of Los Angeles, just 18 miles from the coast. The Utilities Department is comprised of Water, Wastewater and Water Reuse, and Construction and Engineering. The Director oversees an annual operating budget of $72.9 million, a CIP budget of $15.3 million, and a team of 164 dedicated professionals. 
 
Escondido seeks a knowledgeable and proven water or wastewater professional dedicated to exploring strategies to improve service delivery and identify future opportunities and best practices in the industry. Ideally, the next Director will have experience working with the challenges and complexities of similarly sized organizations and municipal utility operations. Requires Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of increasingly responsible experience in water or wastewater utility administration, including 3 years of management & administrative responsibility. Master’s degree, registration as California Professional Civil Engineer, and/or certification in water treatment, water distribution, or wastewater treatment desirable. 
 
Salary is $162,132 - $229,811 supplemented by attractive benefits. Placement within range DOQE. Closes at 11:59pm Sunday, May 5, 2024
